The greatest disease (or absence of ease) is the absence of Shanti; when the mind gets peace, the body also will have health. So everyone who craves for good health must pay attention to the emotions, feelings and motives that animate us. Just as we wash clothes regularly, we must wash the mind free from dust and dross again and again! Otherwise, if dirt accumulates and we form a ‘habit’, it is difficult to get rid of the ‘stains’, besides it is harmful for the clothes. So washing should be a daily process; one should see that no mud settles upon the mind! We have to move about in such company that dirt is avoided. Falsehood, injustice, indiscipline, cruelty, hate – these form the dirt; Sathya, Dharma, Shanti, Prema (Truth, Righteousness, Peace, Love) – these are the cleansers. If we inhale the pure air of virtues, our mind will be free from evil viruses and we will be mentally sturdy, physically strong and ultimately happy and peaceful.
