On the auspicious day of Guru Purnima we would like to offer our gratitude to our Divine Master Bhagavan Sri Sathya Sai Baba. We start off the early morning with suprabhatam followed by the Paduka puja for the Guru Paduka.
Paduka puja includes abhishekam to the Purushasuktam and Guru Paduka Stotram prayers for the padukas followed by Sai paduka ashtotram
Following abhishekams are performed
Water: Life – as it is an element (1/3 our body is water)
Milk: Represents purity – confers a pure heart and steady mind – aids longevity and unity among humans.
Curd (yoghurt): Is to bless us with a clear mind, free from the web of desires.
Honey: Bestows sweetness of voice and heals the devotees of disease.
Coconut: Confers youthfulness, removes the effects of the sin of ingratitude and removes also body heat.
Rose Water: Confers fertility and parenthood, removes mental tension and cools the body.
Fruit Juices: Fulfils one’s desires, removes anger and balances mind.
Panchamirtham: (Mixture of Milk, curd, ghee (clarified butter) honey, sugar- Removes five great sins: Disloyalty, Ingratitude, Stealing temple property, misbehaving with women/men, insulting parents and elders.
Vibhuti: Represents detachment and to giving up of desires – ash cannot undergo any further transformation and is ultimate.
Sandalwood paste (chandan): (orange colour)
Reminds the devotee that he should, in his difficulties, be as patient as the sandal – when difficulties arise, remain cheerful and happy and emanate sweetness and gentleness like the sandal-paste.
Then ashtotram is performed with flowers. For each name one flower is offered.

Then the main parayan of the day was performed. This is the parayan of Sri Sathya Sai Kalpadruma.
It glorifies and describes in detail the attributes of Lord Sai through His 108 names
After the completion of this parayan, we close the session with ‘Manasa Bhajore Guru charanam’, Asatoma, Samastha Lokaha and Arati.
